Double first for Mollie

The Fenland Flyers team (Chatteris Kingfishers and March Marlins) was in action again in the first round of the Anglian League, in Boston.

Godmanchester’s First Strokes had been unable to muster a team and the Flyers suffered quite a few last minute drop-outs, so Boston A ran away with it with 109, Boston B 87 and Fenland Flyers 82. The team nevertheless managed six first places, eight second places and 15 personal best times, so a good performance by the swimmers present.

First places: Mark Thompson (Open 100 I.M.), Matthijs Nooteboom (Open 50m backstroke, p.b.), Catherine Lee (15/U 100m breaststroke), Mollie Allen (15/U 100m front crawl, p.b. and 13/u 100m breaststroke), Matthew Halmshaw (Open 50m breaststroke, p.b.) and Jacob Halls (13/U 100m breaststroke, 1st p.b.).

Second: Mollie Allen (15/U 100m butterfly), Kirsty Slyfield (Open 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly), Luke Cable (13/U 200m I.M., p.b. and 100m butterfly), Katie McGowen (13/U 200m I.M., p.b and 100m butterfly, p.b.) and Ivo Nooteboom (Open 50m butterfly, p.b.)

Further pb times: Marc Johnson in 15/U 100m butterfly and 100m front crawl, Jacob Halls in 13/U 100m front crawl and Liam Oliver in 15/U 100m breaststroke and 200m I.M.

Special mention to Gemma McGowen (10) and Jack Tremain (9) who were called in action as 13 year olds, both swimming 100m backstroke in first time pb times, with Gemma also swimming 100m front crawl and an Open 50m breaststroke and Jack swimming in the final relay team.
