Long Sutton men once again showed why they are Lincolnshire’s finest in East Prem B.

It was no surprise when Danny Sisson notched his 33rd league goal of the campaign. Some flowing hockey allowed Sisson to notch his second. In a lovely solo effort, Fyson fired in an unstoppable reverse stick shot.

Other Sutton goals: Nick Ellis’s first of the season, giving him a goal in the last 22 seasons, an own goal from a Whatling cross and in the second half Whatling again.

After great work from Esse, Canham scored with a deflected finish from a Ben Shore pass.

With a tweak of formation, high flying Peterborough began to overrun the Sutton midfield thus leaving the defence exposed. Sutton are guaranteed fifth place and next weekend are against local rivals Wisbech.

High flying Bedford a week earlier secured promotion but Sutton put up a fight.

At a short corner Tania White’s effort was blocked but Fiona Gray scored from close range to give Sutton some hope. Stand in captain Gemma Parr was player of the match.

The final game of the season next Saturday is at home to Bourne & Deeping, push back 2.30.
