FINAL run in Wisbech Cycling Club’s Tuesday evening series was held in good conditions with plenty of fast rides, the first three coming in under 22 mins.
Veteran Paul Ashby was first again in 21.33 followed by David Jakeman in 21.43 and Mike MacInerney with 21.49. The veterans section is due for a shake-up next season with several of the speed merchants moving into the 40-plus category but still improving.
To prove this three Wisbech vets took to the roads in Yorkshire on a fast course on a fast day in the Yorks Velo Open 10. Adrian Whiting recorded an excellent 22.15, along with personal best times for Denese Halahan and Elaine Roesner on 26.25 and 27.11 respectively.
Denese put in another excellent 26.48 in the Team Swift charity 10 at Hull, and in the VC Norwich promotion Elaine took revenge with a 26.26 pb to Denese’s 28.48. Richard Eve recorded a 21.55 pb with Adrian Whiting on 23.54, all showing that age is no barrier to determined riders.
