Swimmers from Chatteris Kingfishers were back on the podium with regularity during the third round of the Junior Fenland League in Wisbech.

They finished third overall with 134 points, behind hosts Wisbech (165) and Boston (157), and the result leaves them fourth in the league and still in line for the A final.

Maise Harper, 12, and Finley Harper, 14, competed in the 17th Biggleswade Open Meet the following week, where they did extremely well.

Finley won gold in the 100m breaststroke and 50m backstroke, silver in the 50m butterfly and 200m front crawl and bronze in the 200m backstroke, all but the 50m back in personal best times as well.

Maisie swam personal best times in all but one of her seven races, winning gold in her 100m backstroke, silver in her 200m I.M. and 100m front crawl and bronze in her 400m front crawl, which saw her beat he own club record.

The club recently bid farewell to coach Andrew Jakeman whose successes with the Kingfishers have led to a job offer from Corby Swimming Club.

Everyone at Kingfishers wishes him all the best in his new role.
