Ten FRC members were among the 219 finishers at the Thorney Running Club 5-Mile race.

Andrew Plume was first home for FRC in 31:06 but outstanding improvement of the day was Stephen Brunton, who knocked three minutes off his previous time. Rod Sinnott’s daughter Nicole had a great run in the 3K fun run to bag a trophy for second U15.

Results: Andrew Plume 37th 31:06; Rod Sinnott 62nd 34:01; Paul Wiegand 68th 43:21; Colin Simpson 86th 36:00; Ian King 112th 39:21; Sue George 166th 47:09; Stephen Brunton 169th 47:59 (PB); Gill Holmes 203rd 56:58; Emma Bonner 204th 56:58; Sally King 213th 61:49.

On Sunday, just four FRC members were among the 3,161 finishers in the inaugural Run Norwich 10K but two scooped first in age category prizes. The somewhat tortuous route around Norwich city centre saw runners climb the hill to the cathedral and castle three times.

Rod Sinnott was first home in 215th place in 42:18; Maire Irlam 300th but 1st LV50; Claudia Milburn 416th in 45;38 and Ian Milburn 518th but 1st MV70 in 47:11.
