March Town 6

March travelled to the seaside to emphatically beat basement club North Norfolk thanks to a hat-trick apiece from James Fountain and Ashley Welland.

March started strongly and Fountain completed a first half hat-trick when he slotted in two rebounds and latched onto the end of a Matthew Bamford cross. North Norfolk pulled a goal back just before half-time.

March continued with the same energy in the second half.

Welland scored via a well struck effort, after good work from Adam Graham at a short corner, and finally after a well-worked team move.

March are well placed in the race for promotion but have some tough fixtures in the upcoming weeks.

Horncastle 2nd 1

In the first half March played well, while Horncastle had a couple of chances with only 10 men.

In the first 10 minutes Jody Betts put March in the lead, then he passed to Jack Nisbet who slotted it home. March missed a penalty flick, while great defending between Tony Manze, Hugh Whittome and Ben Sole kept the score at 2-0.

In the second half Betts scored a second but Horncastle pulled one back.

Horncastle then went down to nine men for dissent and Charlie Boughton netted twice when set up by Nisbet and Mark Fisher.

MoM: Doogie.

Next March host Bourne Deeping 4ths who are one position behind them.

East Women’s League 3NW(S)

Cambridge City 4th 7, March Town 1

Cambs scored quickly and March retaliated with a goal from Louise Minnis.

Cambs scored another two goals in the first half.

March started the second half of the match strongly and positively.

They had a few chances but could not convert while Cambs fought through and scored another four goals.
