Friday Bridge teenager Ryan Hutler made a big impact at his first appearance for Championship Rugby Club, Bedford Blues, by scoring a hat-trick.
The number 11 scored twice in the first half and his third try was at the beginning of the second against the British Army side in a 55-26 win.
The 19 year-old, a former pupil at Wisbech Grammar, has played for both Wisbech and West Norfolk clubs. His debut in the Championship came when he was selected to play for Bedford’s 1st XV on Tuesday evening.
Ryan has been with Bedford’s Development Squad from the age of 16 and as part of Bedford’s new approach to develop young players for a future in the professional game, has trained with their first team squad from the age of 17.
His development with their Strength & Conditioning programmes has been overseen by the Blues first team coaches.
Ryan said: “It’s a great place to be, since being selected for the first team I’ve been really excited.
“It’s a dream come true, I’ve been working towards this for some time.
“Wearing the First Team jersey was a proud moment and what better way to repay the belief and investment the club is placing in me.”
