Karting sensation George Russell had a fantastic weekend at the last round of the British Championship held at Whilton Mill, Daventry.
The 13-year-old Wisbech Grammar School pupil won the pre-final and the 25 lap race comfortably, setting the fastest lap. The Tydd St Giles racer now has his sights on the Final Cup in Ortona, Italy next month.
The previous weekend he won the Continental Cup at the grand opening of the new PF International circuit in Lincolnshire.
He was driving for the first time in Junior Max against 36 other drivers aged up to 17 years.
The youngest driver in the competition was consistently fast in testing his Intrepid Kart, for his brother Benjy’s team Intrepid UK.
Over the three heats George qualified sixth for the final, but drove an exceptional race to swoop into the lead on the last corner of the last lap, while also setting fastest lap and a new track record.
