Chatteris teenager Jordan Gill made it 10 pro wins out of 10 in Sheffield on Saturday night despite picking up a cut.
The undefeated super featherweight had sustained the injury in sparring while his opponent Adrian Fuzesy was switched at the last minute due to injury and Michael Mooney stepped in.
The Worcester man had a 6lb weight advantage but Gill (19) still made it a perfect 10 at Ponds Forge Arena by winning all four rounds on the referee’s scorecard.
Gill (pictured) said: “A lot of people would have pulled out of the fight after getting cut in sparring.
“But I went in there, did what I had to do and felt totally in control.
“If I had been hitting someone my own size the punches would have had more effect. But he was a good opponent and I need a few more good learning fights like this.”
Gill was on the undercard to Kid Galahad’s fight for the vacant Commonwealth title, live on Channel 5.
l Ryan Williams (12) of Chatteris ABC, boxed Kyle Wood (13, Aston Police ABC, Birmingham) in a show hosted by Haddenham ABC held at Ely College.
Ryan found his range in the second round and went out with full force in the third round to win a unanimous decision.
Ryan Ducker (15, Chatteris ABC), boxed Lee Elley, (15, Aston Police ABC). Ryan won three rounds with excellent boxing.
But to the dismay of the crowd Lee was awarded a split decision win.
Coach Paul Gill said: “It was an excellent night’s work, from both boxers.”
