Golden haul for Kingfishers trio

An incomplete Chatteris Kingfishers junior team of 15 swimmers was in action in the Junior Fenland League fourth round in Deepings.

During that same day two senior swimmers and a junior competed in the Grantham and Lincoln Volcans swimming clubs Open Meet in Grantham.

Special mention goes to Chloe Hewick who swam all five races in her 13/U age group and Helina Boon who 
swam four out of five in 12/U girls.

Other results: Finley Harper (11) won the 12/U 100m I.M.(p.b.) and 12/U 50m breaststroke, 3rd 12/U 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 13/U 50m breaststroke; sister Maisie Harper won 9/U 25m butterfly and 2nd 9/U 50m breaststroke. Hallie White (9) 2nd 9/U 50m front crawl and 10/U 50m butterfly. Zak White (11) 3rd 11/u 50m front crawl, Kiera Howlett 3rd 10/U 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke. Thomas Hanley 3rd 9/U 25m butterfly. Young Riley Astley and Kaia Richards made their debuts. Other swimmers were Jacob Eshelby, Megan Dawson, Daniel Allen, Liam Hill and Georgia Parnell.

In Grantham Tyler Thomas (11), Liam Oliver (15) and Matthijs Nooteboom (16) all won gold in all their races. All started with a personal best time in the 200m I.M. Next came 50m front crawl, in which Liam just pipped Matthijs to the post, all achieving a pb. Tyler got gold in 50m backstroke and 200m breaststroke, while Matthijs won the 100m butterfly in a pb.

In the 100m front crawl Matthijs emerged victorious, pulling Liam along to a pb. The boys won the 50m butterfly in their respective age groups, with Liam again outsprinting Matthijs. Tyler and Liam then won their age group in the 50m breaststroke, Liam with another pb time.
