LOCAL greyhound Midway Skipper was voted the top marathon runner at the Greyhound Board of Great Britain awards for the second successive year.

Parson Drove trainer Henry Chalkley’s bitch won three awards last year and although nominated for three again came out with one win and two seconds in London last week.

TV Trophy winner Midway Skipper is owned by Chalkley’s wife Patricia and is the daughter of Midway Tomscout, who was also a great success for the family.

Last year Midway Skipper won the top marathon, best bitch and best British-bred racer awards and Chalkley said:”It was nice to win just one again as she has not done so much racing in the last year as she was in season and then had one or two niggles.

“She is just an exceptional bitch and has been brilliant for me.”
