TWO days and three tournaments – this was the weekend challenge for 14 members of Wimblington-based Parkfield Archers who went across the county border to Norfolk for a weekend of archery with hosts, Fakenham Bowmen.
The first event was Longbow in the morning and the first of several first places for the club with young Harry Silvester in the junior category. Highest placed senior for the second successive year from the club went to Steve Hutchcraft, with a fifth place in a field of 27 archers.
In the afternoon it was time for all the other disciplines of Barebow, Recurve and Compound to join the Longbow archers in the National Record Status Warwick tournament.
Once again Harry came first but this time with a National Record of 122 for the Short Warwick round. Other first places went to James Fletcher, plus Angela Watson, Roger Watson and Sally Watson, making all three entries from one family attaining first place.
The following day was for the longer Albion and Windsor rounds, in testing windy conditions the club gained another two first places, with yet again Harry in the Junior Longbow and Roger Watson in the Gents Barebow category.
The club’s beginners course will commence again on Tuesday, each course lasting six weeks for two hours and costing £25 for juniors and £45 for adults. The course allows the participant to join the club and take part in the sport. More details from Rick Darville on 01354 638434.
