MARCH driver Harry Hensby won the juniors 125cc 4 stroke event at the Wisbech & District Kart Racing Club’s June meeting.
Hensby totalled 82 points to just win the day by two points. He was pushed all the way by runner-up Joshua Smith and third placed Luke Huggins, who both finished the day on 80 points.
Conditions were very wet with some discussion among the committee as to whether the meeting should go ahead or not but in the end it proved one of the club’s best meetings.
Outstanding on the day, and amassing a maximum of 100 points, was Ian Laws Kart in the 250cc Open Class.
He seemed to relish the muddy conditions, and although he obtained maximum points he had to work for them.
In one heat only he managed to take first place by a distance of two feet on the line. Marcus Halls and Josh Kiernan finished in second and third places.
Probably the battle of the day took place in the 250cc 4 stroke class.
The points winner was Ben Jackson with 92 points. However, the other three drivers in this class, Ashley Hornigold, James Fisher and Luke Manders all finished on 78 points who finished in that order on a count back.
The junior 70cc and 90cc classes were dominated and won on the day by our young lady drivers, Beth Brooker in the 70cc class and Esme Atkin in the 90cc class. The 125cc 2 stroke class was won by Stephen Gardiner with 98 points and the 125cc 4 stroke seniors class went to George Carter (98 points).
