MORE than 100 children took part in the Annual Marshland Area Primary Schools’ Cross Country Competition which was held for the first time at Anthony Curton School on Thursday.
The winners of the boys’ competition were Anthony Curton with 65 points and the girls’ were Emneth with 61.
The first girl home in a time of 4 minutes 12 seconds was Lauren Cook of Walpole Highway; she was followed by Cordelia Barrett (Emneth), Tia Mason (Marshland St. James), Pippa Shirley (Anthony Curton), Phoebe Cox (Emneth) and Lydia Robinson (Terrington St. John).
First boy in 3 minutes 57 seconds: Braden Jermey (Anthony Curton); followed by Will Day (Anthony Curton), Ben Jones (Walpole Highway), Paisley Burch (Tilney St. Lawrence), Thomas Nunn (Anthony Curton) and Matthew Snowdon (Emneth).
Mr. Paul Weigand of Fenland Running Club presented medals to the first six finishers in each race and trophies to the winning teams.
Results: 1 Emneth 128 points, 2 Anthony Curton 138, 3 Terrington St. John 271, 4 Walpole Highway 279, 5 Marshland St. James 377, 6 Tilney St. Lawrence 383.
