Hot March AC make strong Frostbite finish

March AC pulled out all the stops for the final race in the Frostbite League on Sunday.

The five-mile all off-road route in Huntingdon Jubilee Park saw stella performances from the juniors, as Alfie McIntyre sailed over the 1.5 mile course in a time of 9 minutes 31 seconds, coming fifth in the race.

For the impressive Sean Stacey this was his last race as a junior before moving up to the seniors. The Juniors came ninth overall which is a best for many years. The Seniors fought to keep their sixth position overall and a big thanks to all of those who supported the runners throughout the tournament.

Juniors – Alfie McIntyre 9:31 (5th), Hugo Bryant 10:22 (31st), Sean Stacey 10:26 (41st), Luke Gardner 11:09 (68th), Liam Lambert 11:18 (78th), Eddie Boxall 11:51 (93rd), Ethan James 11:59 (96th), Alfie Skinner 12:12 (101st), Lily Fiveash 13:13 (134th), Paul Bryant 13:14 (135th), Serge Lambert 14:11 (156th), Alex Cartwright 15:42 (166th), Maddie Boxall 15:49 (167th).

March also had three ladies run the Silverstone Half-Marathon – Helena Mueller 1:41:39pb, Nina Markillie 2:25:46, Sarah Westbrook 2:25:52pb. At Stanwick Lakes Half Marathon Suzanne Orr and Tom Orr completed the route in 2:26:48.

l The only thing to dampen spirits of the 14 Fenland Running Club runners in the final Frostbite race was the drizzle that gently increased from beginning to end.

With 406 finishers, Lewis Saunders was first FRC man home whilst Maire Irlam brought home the ladies. Fenland finished 14th on the day but managed to stay 13th overall after the six-race series.

Four other FRC members were also racing on Sunday at the Silverstone Half-Marathon which had a field of 6,690 finishers. Andrew Plume pulled out a storming run to finish 41st and bag a new PB in an outstanding time of 1:20:54. John Shaw was 773rd in 1:39:47; Larissa Follen 4,207th 2:12:10 and Denise Griffin 4,441st 2:14:34.
