Upwell teenage racing driver Jake Giddings enjoyed a solid start to the season in the Renault Clio Cup UK at Brands Hatch at the weekend, claiming seventh and eighth place finishes in rounds one and two of the competitive one-make series.

The 18-year-old student qualified fifth and seventh for his two races on the shorter Indy circuit nine hundredths of a second from the pole time in a 22 car grid in which the top ten were split by only three tenths of a second.

The second race featured live on ITV 4 as part of the British Touring Car Championship coverage, The College of West Anglia student is seventh in the championship.

Jake said: “Both races I was behind a veteran of the racing world they know all the tricks.”

The next two rounds of the Clio Cup UK take place at Donington Park on April 20/21.
