Upwell racing driver Jake Giddings showed his potential in the Renault Clio Cup UK, in front of a 30,000-plus crowd at Oulton Park in Cheshire with his maiden graduate cup class win.
The 18-year-old motorsport student was fastest on the Friday test, the first time he had topped the time sheets this season. Saturday’s qualifying session saw Giddings take seventh place in both races which saw Giddings finish eighth and fourth after a red flag finished the race early in the latter.
He said “I’m happy to have taken my first graduate cup win. “I am now looking forward to Croft in two weeks’ time where I hope for some more success and that first podium.”
Giddings is eighth in the championship and third in the graduate cup with eight rounds of the 16 completed.
