High winds have dogged the Wisbech Wheelers Cycling Club evening series, even forcing cancellation on two occasions, but this week the weather smiled on the riders.
Wisbech road racer Jason Kierman, who now rides for St Ives CC, grabbed his TT machine and took advantage of the conditions with a sizzling performance, slicing 18 seconds from the course record and covering the 10 miles in just 21 minutes and 10 seconds.
It is doubtful if any of the other top riders missing from the start sheet could have come anywhere near this pace but in the event it was almost two minutes before John Talbot took 2nd place in 23.03, with Andrew Ward a handful of seconds behind in 3rd with 23.10.
Triathlete, Becky Hamilton, returned to top position in the ladies, recording 27.18, and the vets were led home by Tony Bye in his first year of TT racing on 26.06.
Some might say that 60 is a bit late to start racing but they forgot to tell him and he improves week on week!
