Squashed Kestrels’ team of Chris Gay, Dale Parnell and Callum Brown met the other Squashed team, Wasps, who turned out regulars Clive Harrod, John Timms and Liam Irlam in the Wisbech Table Tennis League.

Gay should have had no trouble, but Junior player Irlam attacked from the start, won the first end 11-9 and only just lost the second end 8-11. The third was close all the way with Irlam taking it 13-11. It then went the distance with Gay eventually winning 11-7.

Kestrels’ other junior player Parnell defeated Harrod who he had never beaten.

Harrod managed to avoid a whitewash by beating Brown comfortably over three ends.

Eagles and Trojans, considered the two strongest teams in the league, both had trouble putting out a full team.

Mike Crowson won his two singles comfortably, and then with John Blyth winning the doubles, it was a technical whitewash against Eagles. Both teams were awarded two points for the loss of their third player.
