Wisbech Rugby Club youth teams were in action on Sunday when they hosted Lincolnshire teams, Bourne and Market Deeping.
With three wins, the U11 side are showing some real promise. In their first match against a Bourne side that included a number of U12 players, they dominated play, winning 20-5. Try scorers were new signing Jack Wicks, Finlay Wilcox, Archie Lyall and Luke Green.
Against Deeping, Wisbech again dominated most of the play, with forward Henry Hoyles going over twice in a 10–5 win. In the final game against Bourne, Wisbech dug deep for a 15-0 win, scorers were Green, Cameron Finlay and Wicks.
Special mention must go to David Betts and Max Smith, joint players of the week.
Wisbech RFC Under 9s got back to winning ways with two comprehensive victories against a mixed Deepings and Bourne team. The first match finished 20-10, fly half Ben Wilcox leading the charge with a hat-trick, and prop Luke Hare running in from halfway.
In the second match Wisbech trailed 10-0 midway through the first half before an amazing revival saw them win 40-10. Scorers: Wilcox (2), Jack Fowler (2), William Smithee, Sam Howat, Fabian Simpson and Ewan Samways.
Wisbech Under 8s were home to Bourne & Deepings. Despite the bitter cold and thick fog, the team played extremely well.
The scores were: Wisbech 6 Bourne 3, Wisbech 3 Bourne 5, Wisbech 6 Deepings 5, Wisbech 1 Deepings 4. Tries: Freddie Riddington, Jonathan Harding, Oliver Mann (2), Jenson Burrows (2), William Paul (3), Joshua Bell, George Tooke (2), Oliver Murdoch (2), Billy Nurse and Rhys Swann. The team have a game next weekend at Fakenham.
