Kingfishers are re-building club

Chatteris Kingfishers S.C. competed in the Mendis trophy gala in Wisbech.

The team is being built up again from the bottom by coach Andrew Jakeman, so a lot of the swimmers swam well above their age group, as well as many young competing for the club for the very first time. There were 22 personal best times.

Two wins from Gary Smith in Open 100m backstroke and Liam Oliver in 15/U 100m front crawl (p.b.). Liam Oliver also came second in 15/U 100m individual medley (p.b.) and swam the 15/U butterfly as well.

Third places: Rachel Minett in Open 100m breaststroke and Open 100m front crawl, Gary Smith in Open 100m breaststroke and Mark Thompson in Open 100m front crawl. Fourth: Kirsty Slyfield in Open 100m butterfly, Mark Thompson in Open 100m butterfly, Catherine Lee in 15/U 100m breaststroke, Matthijs Nooteboom in Open 100m I.M. (p.b.) and Tyler Thomas (10) in first ever (13/U) 100m front crawl and 100m butterfly (both p.b.).

PB times: Catherine Lee in 15/U 100m I.M., Chloe Pauley in 100m I.M., Vicky Allen in 13/U 100m backstroke and breaststroke, Finley Harper (11) in 13/U 100m I.M. and 13/U 100m breaststroke, Tyler Thomas (10) in 15/U 100m backstroke and 13/U 100m butterfly. Swimming for the first time: Kiera Howlett Megan Dawson, Thomas Hanley, Chloe Hewick, Jacob Eshelby, Zak White, Hallie White, Liam Hill and Bonnie Scott. Result: Dereham Otters 198, Wisbech S.C. 163, Norwich Swans 141, Bedford Modernians 137 and Chatteris 71.
