Ladies side triumphs

THE Cambs squash season has now started with Crown Ladies setting the standards with a 4-1 win over Saffron Walden Ladies.

No 2 string, Rebecca Moore and No 5 string, Adele Rawlings both had convincing 3-0 wins. Jill Drewery won a tidy 3-1 and No 1 string, Anne Walton after winning the first two games comfortably let the next two slip taking the match to 2-2. Walton played with determination and after a tight fifth game won 15-12.

Laura Dudley played a very experienced player and despite a 3-1 loss still gained a valuable point for the league table.

Crown 3 and Crown 2 had a good humoured home fixture with Crown 2 being the strongest on the night. Crown 2 looking very comfortable, beat Crown 3 4-1, Simon Gilbert the only winner for Crown 3. Winners for Crown 2 were John Overvoorde, Tim Gibb, Franek Smith and Brian Chambers.

Crown 3 look forward to reversing the result in the second half.

Crown 1 played away at Portugal Place and lost 4-1. Captain, Mark Hildred, was the only winner.
