Ladies vets shine for FRC

On Sunday, a huge effort saw Fenland Running Club entering six teams out of 28 in the Greater Peterborough Athletic Network Green Wheel Relay which follows the outline of the Green Wheel cycle route.

Results: The first FRC team of Rod Sinnott, John Shaw, Andre Pittock, Gary Bligh, Sean Connolly, Richard Hammond and Paul Weigand was 4th overall in a time of 5:43:29. Finishing 6th in a time of 6:04:29: Stuart Follen, Joice Showell, Ellen Drew, Dan Wate, Andrew Plume, Katie Ward and Dean Clark. FRC’s other teams: finishing 13th (Tony Moore, Brian Kett, Roger Williams, Clive Harrod, Colin Simpson, Keith White and Tom Salway; time: 6:45:44); 14th (Dean Racey, Denise Griffin, Pasquale Ruggiero, Harri Harrison, Paul Griffin, Adam Chown and Graham Milham; 7:05:34) and 15th (Nicky Jennings, Alison Patterson, Sue George, Maire Irlam, Sarah Gauvin, Jay Gilbert and Sharon Bird; 7:06:11); 17th (Marc Martin; Ian Barlow; Alan Bird; Adam Oakes; John Chapman; Richard Williams and Larissa Follen; 7:09:50).

Fenland Running Club won both the men’s and the ladies’ vet team prizes, the ladies team actually finishing ahead of all the senior ladies teams as well.

Thirteen FRC members were amongst the 216 racing in the second 5K race in the Peterborough Grand 
Prix Series at Eye on Wednesday.

This year’s club champion Dean Clark smashed his previous PB by 38 seconds to finish in 19.26.

Maire Irlam continues her return from injury taking 30 seconds off the previous race time and coming in 1st FV45.
