Leaders on track again

Ipswich 3rds 0,

Wisbech Town Ladies 2

The league leaders got back to winning ways in this re-arranged league match from December with Wisbech hungry for a win.

The game started with Wisbech controlling play and good passing and movement was an obvious advantage to the visitors.

However Wisbech had numerous short corners and failed to put the ball in the back of the net indicating that the last touch on the ball has been slightly failing Wisbech of late.

Ipswich made some advances but the Wisbech defence were hardly threatened and any shots on goal were confidently dealt with by the keeper.

All level at half-time, Wisbech changed very little and felt that the goals would come if they continued to dominate play.

This they did and another short corner was awarded and Natalie Ward slotted home Wisbech’s first, however a little controversial.

Ipswich began to feel the pressure and they were putting in bad tackles allowing themselves to break down in formation.

A strong attack and some engineered teamwork gave rise to Claire Apted scoring the second for Wisbech and in the last 15 minutes Wisbech were unstoppable picking up loose balls and intercepting well.
