Local drivers dominate awards night

THERE was another capacity turnout at King’s Lynn Football Club last weekend as the build up to the Stock Car and Banger season continued with Trackstar hosting their second Awards Night covering the 2L Stock Cars, 1300 Stock Cars and Lady Bangers.

The 2L Stock Cars saw Ivan Street (Chatteris) presented with a special Merit Award based on his performances in 2010.

In the 1300 Stock Cars in 2010 six out of the top eight drivers in the National Points came from Wisbech. Todd Shales (Wisbech), Richard Hampshire (Elm), John Moat (Wisbech), Roy Gedge (Leverington), Dean Moat and Lee Farrell (Wisbech) were in second, third, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth place.

In the nationwide vote for the special season awards Jonny Pearce (Wisbech) took 27% of the vote to win the award for Newcomer of the Year, Lee Farrell (32%) was the most improved driver of the year and Todd Shales (26%) the Driver’s Driver of the Year.

In the competitive Lady Bangers, Caroline Garner (Wisbech), Terri Mace (Wisbech St Mary) and Trudy Gowler (Wisbech) can all feel very satisfied after finishing in second, third and fourth places respectively in the track championships. Merit awards for outstanding performances were also presented to Natasha Street (Chatteris) and Alicia Greenslade (Wisbech).

Local drivers also did well in the voted for awards with 17-year-old Alicia Greenslade picking up a whopping 46% to take the Newcomer Award by a big margin and Natasha Street took the big award of the night by winning a super competitive Driver’s Driver of the Year with 26% of the vote.
