St Neots 3 LSHC Ladies 0

As Storm Desmond blew in from the north, Long Sutton arrived at Longsands School looking to avenge the 1-2 defeat from the first game of the season, and looking to build on last week’s good win at Peterborough.

In the first 15 minutes Sutton played some nice hockey and although they didn’t really test the home keeper looked to be in control. Sutton keeper Lorraine Wallis won a one- on-one battle to keep the scores level.

A slightly contentious short corner was awarded to the home team after Lisa Baker was penalised for a stick tackle. From the resultant strike the ball travelled past Wallis and flew in off Tania White’s stick.

Just before half-time St Neots doubled their lead despite more good work from Wallis.

The second half progressed without any real dramas until, with about 15 minutes to go, short corners were gained by Sutton. Although none were converted, on a break St Neots completed their scoring.

A disappointing performance by Sutton, probably their worst all season.

Next weekend there is a key re-arranged game against unbeaten St Ives, the last game before the Xmas break.
