Mixed Trophy

LSHC Mixed 4 Spalding 2

Former Spalding player and captain Luke Jackson couldn’t have been happier in this derby.

Jackson lost vice captain Jess Hudson due to illness and partner Danny Sisson due to an injury. However Sutton battled though the game without any female subs.

It was a penalty stroke from Josh Fyson that saw Sutton up on the score sheet within five minutes and he set up Daniel Batten to slot another goal over the keeper. Batten and Ashley Taylor added goals.

Cambridge City 3rds 0 LSHC Ladies 1

Third played fifth place as Long Sutton looked to continue their winning run since Christmas.

With illness to Jess Hudson and Katie Bedford, Sutton had to draft in teenager
Amber Jones and turned up at the Perse School with a
bare 11.

But within five minutes the midfield of Jo Bland, Leah Goodley and Amber Jones, plus Lyn Tancred, set up Leanne Woodhead for the winner that saw Sutton leapfrog above City in fourth place, a point
behind third.

LSHC Men 1 Ipswich-East Suffolk (I-ES) 4

Hopes were high in this six-pointer bottom of the table clash.

Whilst pre-match the squad were focused, this was not transferred onto the pitch. The hosts took the lead through a Fyson finish but a mistake late in the half allowed the away team to draw level. The second half was best forgotten.

Cambridge South 3 LSHC Men’s Second 0

Only 11 players available, no subs and three youngsters stepped up from the third team away to league romping leaders South.

Calvin Bishop and 14 year old Tom Burton had the most solid performances as left/right back.

Man of match: youngster Kane Portass.

LSHC Men’s 4th 6 Bourne Deeping 6ths 0

Sutton scorers were Sullivan, Matt Goodley, Josh Baker a brace; and in the second half Sullivan and Baker for his first senior hat trick.
