Lucy gains lady prize

FENLAND Running Club members competed in a range of events on Sunday.

In the Ryston Runners Wissey Half Marathon, seven members performed well with Lucy Chessor finishing in 1.34.19 in 65th place in a field of 237 but as the first senior lady V35.

Other results: Robin Parker 11th 1.21.46, Paul Weigand 72nd 1.35.05, Andre Pittock 90th 1.38.40, Colin Ferguson 98th 1.40.09, Sarah Gauvin 115th 1.43.54 and Paul Denwood 142nd 1.51.02.

Over in Wells-next-the-Sea, Sue George, Colin Simpson and Andrew McShane took on the North Norfolk Triathlon with Olympic distances of 1,500m open water swim, 23.02-mile bike ride and 5.96-mile run. As a newcomer to triathlon, Ann Trett travelled to Ely for the Ely Tri-sprint as an introduction to triathlon events with a 300m swim, 20K bike ride and 5K run and revelled in the new experience.

l MARCH AC athlete Melissa Neal competed in the Middlesbrough 10km road race at the weekend.

Conditions were very warm for the race run over a flat one-lap route. Melissa finished 6th lady and 66th overall in a field of 2598 athletes with a time of 38mins 34secs.
