Two of Fenland Running Club’s lady members travelled to Chester for the 2012 Chester Marathon on Sunday in good running conditions on an undulating course.

Lucy Chessor stormed home in a new FRC Ladies Marathon record time of 3:20:08 knocking over seven minutes off the previous record. Also running was Sarah Gauvin who came home in a time of 3:55:10.

Another 19 members took to the 5-mile Cross-Country course at Priory Park, St Neots, on Sunday to kick-start the 2012-13 Frostbite Friendly League series of six monthly races.

After leading at the front of the pack at the near mid-point, and feeling strong, Jack Trow had to pull up with a leg injury which saw him to A&E to check out for a suspected stress fracture.

In a field of 389 the FRC team still finished with a commendable sixth out of 16 teams.
