Maile delivers domination of top five South Road placings

On Saturday, four members of March Town Flying Club sent 83 birds to Bubwith.

Results: 1, 4, 5 Mr & Mrs Oldfield velocity 1493, 1382, 1379; 2 M Bishop & Son velocity 1439; 3, 8 F Bannister velocity 1424, 1123; 6, 7 FC Skoulding & Son velocity 1347, 1302.

Wisbech & District South Road Flying Club

The first young bird race of the season from Bovingdon saw the Sefton Lofts of Alan Maile dominating the top five placings.

Taking top spot was ‘Shrek’, a bird bred by Mamwell Bros of Louth out of their North Road Championship Club winner, with a speed of 1281 ypm over the 72 mile course.

Hot on its tail was the Lancaster Bomber.

This was a bird of the Vanderbeele strain of the M & D Evans lines with a speed of 1280 ypm.

In third spot was ‘Sollum with 1279.6 ypm.

Fourth position went to T.N.T with a speed of 1279.4 ypm, with fifth place going to ‘Oatcake’ with a speed of 1278 ypm.

Robbie Clark, of Friday Bridge, took the final diploma with a Blue Cheq Busschaert Hen, bred by Mick Plowman of Walsoken, clocking up a speed of 1273ypm.
