March captain’s day raises £1,300

March Golf Club captain Malcolm George celebrated his Captain’s Day on Saturday with an 18-hole Stableford competition followed by an evening of entertainment for members and guests.

The day was extremely well supported and the overall winner was Stan Dunn with 43 points and runner-up was Gary Wiggins with 39. Chris Hodson won the Past Captain’s Prize and the ladies 9 hole competition was won by Brenda Softley on countback from Sarah Oldham.

Oldham also won the nearest the pin on the second hole whilst David Small won on the 9th with a remarkable shot to a really difficult pin position.

George said: “It was a great day, really well supported. The course was really playing well and is in great condition at the moment. We raised £1,354 for the Captain’s project which I am delighted with.”
