Swimmers from March Marlins competed in the Thetford Open Meet, coming away with 13 new PB’s.

Results: Daniela Sarkivica 50m backstroke new PB and 50m butterfly new PB; Lydia Gray 50m backstroke new PB; Mollie Allen 50m backstroke new PB, 100m IM new PB and 50m breaststroke new PB; Graham Shaw 50m breaststroke new PB, 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly; Marc Johnson 50m backstroke new PB, 50m butterfly new PB and 100m IM new PB.

2nd places: Jake Hoy 50m breaststroke and new PB and Mollie Allen 50m freestyle. 3rd: Mollie Allen 50m backstroke; 50m butterfly and 100m IM; Marc Johnson 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Other swimmers taking part: Emily Morris, Liam Cole, Jacob Halls and Josie Robertson.

On Saturday March Marlins were back in action competing in the JFL at Cambridge with a strong squad who put in a competitive performance against strong opposition.

1st places: Nat Cook 50m freestyle and Katerina Caikovskaja 50m freestyle.

2nd: Kahra Cottam 4x25IM; Luke Hemsley 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke; Jake Hoy 50m breaststroke; Luke Cable 50m breaststroke and 4x25m IM and Siobhan Halliday 50m freestyle.

3rd: Graham Shaw 4x25m IM and 50m butterfly; Megan Toombs 50m freestyle; Amelia Wallis 50m breaststroke; Nat Cook 50m butterfly; Chloe Richardson 50m breaststroke and 4x25m IM and Jacob Halls 50m breaststroke. Others taking part: Charlie Revell; Jemma Tombs; Lydia Gray; Alfie McIntyre; Rosie Benningfield; Lucy Curtis; Liam Cole and Libby Band.

l EIGHT Chatteris Kingfishers were in action in the Nifty Fifties sprintmeet in Thetford, the first competition after the summer break.

For Daniel Allen (9), Liam Hill (10) and Helina Boon (10) it was their first competition as Kingfishers, all swimming the 50m front crawl (15th, 19th and 22nd in good first times) and Daniel swimming the breaststroke (10th) and Helina the butterfly, which she swam sub-minute (21). Liam bravely competed in all five races, being disqualified in the butterfly and 100m I.M., finishing 18th in 50m breast and 17th in 50m backstroke.

Finley Harper and Tyler Thomas shared several medals between them, before Tyler had to retire due to injury. Finley won gold in 50m breaststroke, with Tyler finishing in 6th, both p.b.’s, then Tyler won silver in the 50m front crawl and 50m backstroke and Finley 5th (medal) and 7th, all p.b.’s. Finley won bronze in 100m I.M. and 4th place medal in 50m butterfly, also p.b. times.

Ivo and Matthijs Nooteboom (15 on the day) competed in the Open category. Matthijs achieved medals in the 100m I.M. (4th), 50m back (5th) and 50m butterfly (p.b., 6th) and finishing 7th in 50m front crawl and 8th in 50m breaststroke. Ivo finished in 8th (50m backstroke), 9th (50m breaststroke), 10th (50m front crawl) and 11th (50m butterfly).

Chatteris Kingfishers has new coach Andrew Jakeman starting next week.
