On the hottest day of the year so far over 100 senior runners and 60 fun runners took part in the March Athletic Club Spud Run on Sunday.
A 1.5-mile fun run followed by a 5-mile race was held at their clubhouse on Elm Road sports field.
First junior home for the club in the fun run was Robert Shepherd with a time of 11 minutes 40 seconds, 7th place overall. He was followed by Ryan Thomas for March AC with a time of 11.59 and 8th place overall.

For the 5-mile the club participants were fewer as a lot of the team were busy with duties helping to run the event. However first home for the club was Jevan Robertson securing 8th place overall with a personal best time of 31.36 followed by another personal best time of 32.26 from Tony Daplyn in 10th place overall.

l Nineteen Fenland Running Club members took part in the third Peterborough Grand Prix 5K Series hosted by Eye Community Runners on Wednesday last week.
Unfortunately due to a technical fault with the timing device times for positions 126th to 245th of the 260 finishers are unavailable which was particularly disappointing for the FRC runners who from their own watches had achieved new PBs.

Six FRC members ran in the March AC Spud Run on a multi-terrain 5-mile course. In a field of 103 finishers, Matt Pyatt finished in first place in a time of 28.45, almost a minute ahead of the second place runner. Maire Irlam was 4th lady home and took the prize for the 1st LV45 category.

Also running on Sunday was Sarah Gauvin who was third lady overall and 1st LV40 in the Ryston Runners Hancock 5-mile race.
