Ernie’s ABC hosted a show at the Chatteris Cromwell Leisure Centre on Saturday night and boxing fans packed out the venue.

First up was Jay-Jay Coulson, 12, with his first skills bout, making a promising start to his career.

Next was John Lee Cunningham (13) with another win under his belt over March boxer Robert Tanner. He outboxed his more experienced opponent to gain a split decision.

Last up for Ernie’s was Max Davis (15) in another exciting contest. Davis fought hard for all three rounds but lost on a unanimous decision.

Coach Ernie Payne said Max put up a great performance but later found out he’d broken his thumb in the second round.

Thanks to Dave ‘Boy’ Green for presenting the trophies and Perry Dennis for the music and the MC.

Training times: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 6:30 to 8pm.
