DEAN Moat (Wisbech) took the biggest win of his career and the biggest victory by any Wisbech driver for several years on Saturday night when he was crowned 1300 Stock Car European Champion at Lynn.
John Moat (Wisbech) drew pole position and stormed off into the lead. Following a stoppage Dean moved up to second place and was closing on his father when John suddenly slowed after breaking his driveshaft which saw Dean inherit the lead.
A clearly delighted Dean took the first title won by any Trackstar driver in the new 1300 Stock Car Association.
Dean’s younger brother Shane got third, Richard Hampshire (Elm) also drove brilliantly for fourth place.
In the support races, Ady Wales (Upwell) took the chequered flag in two out of the three All Comers. Jonny Pearce (Wisbech) was unlucky in gaining a fourth and fifth place finish.
Carl Crowson (Leverington) was a heat winner in the Unlimited Bangers which also saw Nicky Young (Elm) get amongst the results. Richard Maryon (Emneth) scored some useful points in the 2L Bangers.
