WISBECH Cycling Club’s second Tuesday evening TT series was once again run over a slightly shortened course (9.7 miles), in order to get the large entry around before the light failed.
On a cool evening with moderate crosswinds several riders were pleasantly surprised by their results.
Paul Ashby was fastest as usual with 22.07 and second man in was visitor, Ed Headford of RAF CC in 23.30.
The tussle for third place was close with three riders within 11 seconds of each other, the fastest being Andrew Ward who is looking strong in the early season.
New rider Doug McLure also deserves mention for recording 26.32 in his first ever outing against the clock.
For the Wisbech ladies, on Saturday veteran Denese Hallahan recorded 28.21 in the VTTA 10 mile promotion near Tuxford.
On Sunday Becky Taylor put in a 1.6.53 for 25 miles followed up by veteran, Elaine Roesner with a pb of 1.10.54.
In the Café Sprint on Sunday Richard Eve came from the back in full flight but was held off by strong man Carl Murley riding a big fixed gear.
Regular road racer David Jakeman jumped through to take third relegating a flagging Pete Baldwin to fourth.
