FENLAND Flyers got the 2011 trampoline competition season off to a flying start when 11 members travelled to Grimsby at the weekend.

This event had just 150 entries, but the competition was still fierce especially at the top end of regional ladder with children hoping to get qualification and compete on the national circuit.

Emma Shearer, at 18 one of the club’s oldest competitors, completed two sound routines to come second in her group. At the other end of the age scale Jordan Broda, 9, was competing against children at least four years older and came an impressive second.

Sophie Hennells, Emma Fountain and Oliver Crowson all competed at the top of the Regional ladder. Oliver had two good routines to gain the qualification he was after and can now compete on the National circuit; Sophie and Emma also completed two excellent routines and reached the qualification score but missed out on placing.
