Parkfield’s four firsts

Ten members of Wimblington Parkfield Archers took part in the Cambridgeshire Archery Association Indoor Championships combined with the Jolly Archers Open Portsmouth Tournament, held at the OneLeisure Centre in St Ives on Sunday.

Although this was an indoor tournament, with the current climate and the fact that the heating was not working, the conditions proved to be more testing. In The Jolly’s Open Tournament element of the competition the club achieved four first places and one second place.

John Loveridge took the second place in the Gents Compound Double Portsmouth and the first places by Harry Silvester in Junior Gents Longbow, Andrew Charter in the Junior Gents Recurve, Alex Fletcher in the combined award where he shot all three bow disciplines and the Longbow Team of James Fletcher, Steven Hutchcraft and Harry Silvester.

In the County Championships there were six awards. Third places went to the Recurve Team of Alex Fletcher, Angela Watson and Andrew Charter. Kevin Charter took third in the Gents Barebow section.

The same combination of archers in the Longbow Team took second place. Alex Fletcher finished second in the Gents Recurve, just missing out by one point from first place, with the two junior members of the club showing the adults the way and both retaining their title of County Indoor Champions of Harry Silvester, Junior Gents Longbow and Andrew Charter, Junior Gents Recurve.
