JOE Perry lost 13-7 to Stephen Maguire in the second round of the World Snooker Championships at the Crucible on Saturday.
Perry said: “I did miss four-or-five easy balls and every time I made a little mistake he punished me. On the other hand I don’t remember him leaving me an easy chance all match.”
The Chatteris potter started the match very well with a break of 115 to clinch the first frame, but then lost the next four before breaks of 68 and 82 enabled him to finish the first session 5-3 down.
Maguire dominated the second session by winning six of the eight frames although Perry produced a very good 103 break. Perry staged a comeback by winning the first two frames of the third session before Maguire hit back to the clinch the match.
By his own admission Maguire stole several frames from Perry, who scored a very comfortable 10-1 win over Graeme Dott.
