Brooklands MU 2nds 5

Sutton’s HA Plate dream finally came to an end at the hands of a well-drilled skilful Manchester side.

The semi-final started evenly. Brooklands took the lead from a well worked move, they then doubled their lead just before half-time.

Following a rousing team talk from the skipper, a trademark Bailey poacher’s finish halved the deficit, however the visitors broke to score following a period of Sutton pressure. The final push never really came following a number of stoppages for injury niggles and yellow cards, but the match was closer than the scoreline suggests.

Whilst all of the squad deserve acclaim, Jeremy Watt and Josh Fyson proved again what quality players they are. A thank-you to the fans who have supported the side.

Battling performances from Cliff in goal and Fox in central defence. There is no shame for this newly promoted Sutton side in this higher division.

At first the back five of Howell Snr, Warrick, Goodge, Baker and Worth along with player of the match CJ Robinson kept the champions at bay.
