An opposition rugby player was airlifted from Wisbech Grammar School on Saturday.

The 1st XV team was playing Ratcliffe College, Leicestershire, in a 22-17 win for WGS.

During the match a Ratcliffe player suffered a contused fracture of the ankle and cared for by the WGS physiotherapist, Mrs Claire Taylor, and members of St John Ambulance who attend the school’s matches.

The Magpas Helimedix helicopter flew the teenage boy to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.
