Fenland Running Club hosted their annual 10-mile race, the Country Grounds Maintenance (CGM) Fen10, on Sunday which attracted the biggest field of entrants for many years with 277 finishers.

John Pike of Newham and Essex Beagles was first home in 0.56.14 and Walpole St Andrew’s Matt Pyatt (Hunts AC) was second, just 12 seconds off the lead.

First lady home was Jo Coates of Bury St Edmund Pacers in ninth, 0.59.15. Hunts AC also took the men’s team prize. March AC took the ladies’ team (Debra Wait, Karen Patterson and Geraldine Larham). Peter Downing once again won the wheelchair race in a time of 1.18.11.

For Fenland, Gary Bligh and Maire Irlam were the first male and female runners home in times of 1.04.10 and 1.12.37 respectively. Neil Bailey, Dan Carrington, Ian King, Tracy Howard and Tracy Farr, who came to FRC via the ‘Beginners’ classes held in June and July, completed their first-ever 10 mile race.
