Walpole St Andrew’s Matt Pyatt put behind him the disappointment of not being able to compete at the British Masters Athletics championships the previous week due to a foot injury.
He took part in the beach run in aid of the West Norfolk Stroke Association at Hunstanton. In a field of 65 runners tackling a course of rocks, groynes and wet sand, Pyatt led from the start. beating 40 men and 25 ladies by 2 minutes and 40 seconds in a time of 32min 1sec.
He finished fourth out of 24 in Huntingdonshire Athletics Club’s annual track 10,000m championships at St Ives in 35min 6secs, his debut for that 25-lap track distance.
