Wisbech Riding Club’s dressage team is celebrating after an impressive performance at the Riding Clubs’ Winter Championship qualifier at Keysoe, Bedfordshire.

The team came home with rosettes after finishing sixth overall out of a total entry of 29 teams.

The Wisbech combinations were: Hayley Shippey and Maverick (Upwell), Lynn Pugsley and Lucky Lane Georgie (Whaplode Drove). Cath Grimsey and Kiss That Doesn’t Pop (Outwell) and Dawn Clarke and Cromptons Rolo (Upwell).

The team worked together to train for the competition, tutored by Emma Openshaw and Sam Freeman who regularly give up their spare time to help.

Lynn and Hayley excelled themselves on the day finishing second and third respectively in their sections to give the team a flying start.

Cath said: “Some clubs were able to send six teams and Wisbech barely had enough candidates to make up one full team but still managed to finish well up the order. And with several younger and less experienced riders working hard to improve and banging at the door of team selection, the future looks bright.”
