Wisbech Swimming Club had six victories at Wymondham in Round 1 of the National Arena League on Saturday in a tough gala which included 50 races.

Beth Dennis and Ollie Newton took two firsts each, while Jack Lane added another and the Boys’ 13/U front crawl relay team was also victorious. Beth won the 10–11 years 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke (setting a new personal best in the latter), while Ollie won both the 100m open and 15/U butterfly.

The team set ten new PB times, including two for Sam Smith and one Elouise Youngs, who also equalled her PB in a second event.

Coach Greg Marsters noted: “It was a good team effort against very strong teams.”

Wisbech battled hard to 145 points. Norwich Swans won with 211.

Next Saturday, WSC’s junior team is competing in the final of the Junior Fenland League at Market Deeping.
