The cycling TT season was off to a flying start in the Wisbech Wheelers Open 10 on Sunday with remarkable ride by 10-year-old speed skater Eve MacInerney.
She partnered her father Mike to victory in the tandem event with a time of 25.41 easily beating runners-up, Pete Baldwin and Clive Wilcox by a 22 secs margin. Eliza Murley, not much older than Eve, also partnered her dad, Carl and recorded a creditable 26.50.
The solo section winner was ex national champion and Veteran, Ian Cammish of Sonic Cycles in 22.34 only 2 secs ahead of a flying Gary Rushmore, also a vet, of King’s Lynn CC in 22.36. Third rider home was Daniel Bloy also of Lynn with 22.50.
Rushmore took victory in the team event with partner and fellow Lynn rider Marcus Hopkins with an even quicker 22.28. The Wisbech contingent were led in by David Jakeman (23.39) and Mike MacInerney with Carl Murley in the team event (24.00).
