Stacey secures top 40 spot

Twenty-three of the most dedicated stalwarts from Fenland Running Club braved the cold, wind and mud of Bourne Woods to take part in the fifth Frostbite Friendly League five-mile race on Sunday.

First home was Stuart Follen in 69th place in 35.35 and it was significant that all bar one (Dan Wate) of the scoring finishers were veteran age category runners, both male and female. Outstanding run of the day was Colin Simpson (MV60) who finished as fourth scoring runner in 36.47. The team finished 10th overall, which is their best result to date, but FRC remains 13th overall.

l March AC took part in the 5th race of the Frostbite series held in Bourne Woods. The 5 mile gruelling course meant that the runners had to contend with a hilly course, thick mud and gusty winds.

First home for March over the hilly course and thick mud was Mick Stacey, who secured 34th place out of 365 runners. After five races March are in a very respectable fifth position overall.

The juniors took on board a 1.5 mile race through the woods.

Again Luke Fenner did the club proud in coming home second in a field of 197.
