LSHC Mens’ 2nd 6,

Burton 2nds 3

Long Sutton went into this National 2nd XI HA Plate quarter-final knowing that the Burton were most likely going to be the strongest team they had played all season.

Sutton started well and within minutes were in the lead from an excellent finish by Man of the Match Adam Wiles and Josh Fyson added a second. Burton equalised, but Sutton added second half strikes from Fyson (2), Wiles and Andy Shore while Canham had a goal disallowed.

LSHC Men 1, Felixstowe 2

In horrible, blustery conditions, Sutton found themselves two early goals down albeit in fortuitous circumstances.

Some great work from Sisson saw him intercept the ball, round the last defender and smash home on his reverse going into half-time. Sutton will feel disappointed not to have got more out of this fixture.

This first game of the weekend saw an under strength Sutton equalise twice from Esse did equalise from a well taken goal and Ben Shore both after fine work by Wiles.

Within five minute Joss Calderbank left the field injured and the visitors were pleased to reach half-time at 0-0.

In the second half Ryan Mountney scored a ricocheted effort and Adam Sisson chipped over the prostrate keeper.

LSHC Ladies 1, Royston 2

Sutton’s 10-game unbeaten run since October ended. Royston move to third in the league with Sutton dropping to fourth but on equal points of 31 on goal difference.

Sutton on 27 minutes levelled the scores after Lisa Baker pounced on Jeorgia Carr’s first strike which was blocked by the keeper but conceded in the second half with wind, hail and sleet driving into their faces.

PoM: goalkeeper Wallis.
