The Wisbech Grammar School 1st XI Boys hockey team on Saturday beat a Bedford Modern senior team.

The team started on the front foot, taking the game to the opposition, using their pace down the widths through Ollie Mann (Wimblington) and Arron Shipley (Wisbech St Mary).

Throughout the first half the team worked hard to maintain control,
seeing Bedford only gaining a solitary shot on goal, which was easily saved by James Thompson (King’s Lynn).

The second half saw a double from Henry Thornton (Wisbech St Mary).

1st XI coach, Mark Jarvis, commented on the solid performance: “The team reacted well to the required changes, seeing their efforts rewarded with a well-deserved 2-0 win.”
