The first week of the 63rd season of the Wisbech Table Tennis League sees an additional team, The Fossils, bringing the total to 11. The former Institute teams have moved their venue to the Wisbech Squash Club and have changed their names.
Aqua’s new signing Valerie Kelly (the only woman in the league) put in a good performance against Wanderers’ (formerly Institute C) George Norman to win her first game in four ends.
Pegg Scaffolding’s team of the Pegg brothers Peter, Bryan and Richard (Jake) were surprisingly no match for last year’s league winners Trojans Wayne Mason, John Blyth and Chad Bassett.
Walton Highway A’s new signing Andy Murray (not the tennis star) put in a strong performance to win two of his singles against the much improved Squashed Kestrels (formerly Institute) juniors Dale Parnell and Callum Brown.
